Happy St. Patty’s Day!
To honour the day, I went on the pursuit of all things green… Sax-related of course… And came up with these little gems… Enjoy!
First up, how about a Cranes Elite Series Soprano sax. This little green gem is made by Hudson.

Now that you’ve got your soprano, how about a new green case to carry it in? This gig bag by Fusion is pretty cool. It allows you to carry much more than just your new soprano.

If you’re more of an alto sax player, no worries, there are plenty of green altos around. Check out this offering on eBay.
Unfortunately it is one of those no name brand saxes. But have no fear. The seller says it’s a “Very High Quality Professional” model. Heh, they even throw in a “U.S.A. Mouth Piece ( Including Reed )”. What a deal!

But what if you’re not a small horn player? Well you’re in luck. I found a green Cecilio tenor on Amazon.com.

If you’re not in the market for a new horn, but would like to dress up the one you’ve got; how about some new pearls? I found these green ones from a seller on eBay.

If on the other hand, you’re not wanting to change the look of your sax, but would still like to have green in your saxophone wardrobe; how about a new neck strap? This green Neotech strap should do you.

So now you’ve got all your St. Patty’s Day gear, and you’re practicing your ass off. But guess what? The neighbours are complaining. No problem. I’ve found a green solution for you there too. How about a saxophone mute?

If you don’t care how loud you are, but just want to add some green lighting effects to your sax, perhaps this shot by adamkucc will give you some ideas.

Now if you’re wondering where the baritone representation for St. Patrick’s Day is, I’ve saved the best for last. Baritone sax player Fred Ho and The Green Monster Big Band, just released their new album: Celestial Green Monster.

Perhaps you’ll want to check out some of the reviews of the new album, and find out more about this rather unique 17 piece ensemble.

I could go for the green pearls, but the jolly green giant makes me think either the Blue Man Group has gotten very ill, or there is about to be some HULK SMASH! action on the hapless bari.
Too bad the Cecilio horn is highly likely to be their cheapest model, which I have recently tested and found to still be utter crap. If they offered that finish on one of the nicer models, it might be worth playing.
I just want to know if Fred Ho plays in the nude while painted green.
Now that would be a very, um, interesting way to to lead a big band. Hell, why not paint the whole lot of them green, and have them all perform in the nude. Now that would be what one would call entertainment.
Disclaimer:
To Mr. Ho. If you happen to end up reading this comment, please don’t take any offense. It’s meant only in fun, and only in the spirit of St. Patty’s day.
Don’t worry, someone who arranges Innagaddadavida for a big band HAS to have a sense of humor!
Until I went and looked him up, I figured him for Hawaiian. Maybe it’s the last name, or the physique, or both. He’s actually about as far as you can get from Hawaii and still be in the United States, or at least was in 2005.

Also noted is that he prefers to wear clothing of his own making, or none at all. No mention of green paint.
